The government laid the final legislation in Parliament on 15 December 2025. This legislation creates new regulated activities for cryptoassets, including operating a cryptoasset trading platform and issuing stablecoins.
The instrument is titled The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities and Miscellaneous Provisions) (Cryptoassets) Order 2025.
The new regime applies to crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) and token issuers as identified in the legislation.
The deadline for compliance with the new regulatory requirements is set for 16 December 2025.
The legislation will formalize oversight for crypto-related activities, including admissions, disclosures, and market abuse regimes.
