Detailed overview

Oman does not currently have a comprehensive AI Act equivalent to the EU AI Act. Its AI framework is based on national AI policy, safe and ethical AI guidance, digital-transformation programmes, personal-data protection, cybersecurity and sectoral regulation.

Oman has adopted a National AI Policy 2025, described by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology as a comprehensive strategic framework for responsible, safe and effective AI adoption.

Oman also operates the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Digital Technologies. The programme supports AI adoption in economic and development sectors and promotes the use of AI to improve service quality, productivity and national digital transformation.

Oman's policy work focuses on creating an enabling environment for AI through legislative, regulatory and technical frameworks. This includes public consultation on AI policy, development of safe and ethical AI use principles, AI adoption in public services and economic sectors, and awareness-building.

There is no single Oman AI-specific penalty table. Penalties may arise under personal-data protection law, cybersecurity rules, telecommunications regulation, financial regulation, healthcare regulation, consumer protection, public-sector rules, civil liability or criminal law depending on the AI use case.
